Haiti Disaster Relief

We have all been watching in horror the devastation that has occurred in Haiti. It breaks our heart to know that their suffering has only just begun. The Philoptochos’ Mission is clear: We must help our fellow brother and sister in disaster and crisis.

An "Urgent Action Appeal" has been requested by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Their request is that all communities’ work through the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) by either a donation and/or assembling a hygiene kit.

Health Kit:
Buy a one-gallon plastic bag with a zipper closure and fill it with the following items:

• One hand towel
• One washcloth
• One comb
• One metal nail file or nail clipper
• One bar of soap (bath size, new and wrapped in original packaging)
• One toothbrush (NO TOOTHPASTE)
• Six Band-Aids

If you are unable to provide a complete kit, then please provide any of the items above in the collection bins at church and volunteers will assemble them.
